A commissioned work of art is a unique event. With infinite possibilities in creating a painting, the artist remains open to the client’s ideas, concerns, and direction, sharing the process of “the experience” along the way. The procedure begins with an informal meeting between the artist and the client discussing the medium, subject(s), preferences, detail, mood, setting, size and price of the work. The artist will work from a selection of suitable resource photographs provided by the client. This is key as clear photos are essential for creating the work. As the painting process progresses and nears completion, the artist will submit digital photos via text or e-mail of the work in progress for client’s review. This process is invaluable as it provides for acceptance of final artwork before actual completion.
A non-refundable commitment deposit of 50% of the total agreed fee(s) is required prior to beginning the work to reserve commissioned time. The balance is payable upon acceptance and client satisfaction of the finished piece. An approximate date of completion is estimated, usually three to four weeks from the time the project is confirmed. Completion time can vary due to the scale of work and level of detail, such as background, complexity, number of subjects, additional objects, etc. If there is a commission waiting list at the time of commitment, a scheduled due date can be determined. For Christmas deliveries, commissions cannot be scheduled after October 1st.
